Motorcyclist killed in collision involving 2 other vehicles in Phoenix

PHOENIX – A motorcyclist was killed in a collision involving two other vehicles on Tuesday afternoon in west Phoenix, authorities said.

Officers responded to the scene on 59th Avenue north of Indian School Road around 3:45 p.m., according to the Phoenix Police Department.

What did police say about crash involving motorcyclist?

The motorcyclist, 33-year-old Joshua Johnson, had been riding north on 59th Avenue when a southbound vehicle made a left turn in front of him. He struck the turning vehicle and then careened into a second southbound vehicle, police said.

“The speed of the motorcycle appears to be a factor in the collision while impairment is not believed to be a factor,” Sgt. Rob Scherer said in a media advisory.

Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene. The other vehicles remained in the area.

“Charging decisions will not be made until the accident reconstruction process can be complete,” Scherer said.
