PHOENIX — It’s a Christmas miracle (times five)! For the first time in its 121-year history, quintuplets have been born at a Phoenix hospital.
Margaret and Michael Baudinet welcomed four girls and one boy at Dignity Health St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center on Dec. 4, according to the family’s blog.

Hospital officials say the quintuplets are currently in the nursing intensive care unit after being born at 32 weeks with weights ranging from three to four pounds.
Margaret wrote in a blog post that the early births came “due to some liver and kidney issues,” but said her and the babies are making progress.
Her blog, A Bundle of Baudinets, documented the struggle her and Michael went through to have a family. After several attempts, Margaret said they tried their hand at fertility medication – which turned out to be a success.
[The nurse] smiled a bright, toothy smile at me and said, “Well, aren’t you going to be a busy lady?”WHAT IS SHE TALKING ABOUT?I gave her a puzzled look. As I did, she showed me one….two…..three….four heartbeats. Four heartbeats. Wait, what? That’s right, she told us we were going to have quadruplets. There might be a fifth, but she couldn’t really tell. But, at the very least, we were having four babies in the next year.
The hospital plans a media briefing Wednesday with the parents Margaret and hospital staff, including one of the physicians who helped deliver the quintuplets.
According to the hospital, the average number of sets of quintuplets born annually in United States in the past decade was 52.
