PHOENIX — Banner Health is hosting five career fair open houses throughout September in hopes of hiring about 1,500 people for positions throughout the state.

According to Becky Armendariz, Banner Health public information officer, the company is mostly looking to hire nurses.

“The market has been somewhat challenging due to the low unemployment rate and nursing shortage, so a lot of those positions that are posted are nursing positions,” Armendariz told KTAR News 92.3 FM.

However, she said there is still a wide range of other jobs open including administrative services, transportation and culinary services.

The career fairs will be held at the following locations:

• Banner Thunderbird Medical Center, Sept. 11, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

• Banner Ironwood Medical Center and Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center, Sept. 13, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

• Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center and Banner Estrella Medical Center, Sept. 18, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

• Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix and Banner Desert Medical Center, Sept. 20, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

• McKee Medical Center, Sept. 26, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Those participating in the events are asked to bring a resume and be prepared to interview with managers.
