Drowning victim recovered from Lake Pleasant, believed to be 37‑year‑old woman

PHOENIX — A woman’s body was recovered from Lake Pleasant on Saturday after fishermen spotted her submerged in a cove, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies responded to Pipeline Cove at approximately 11:32 a.m. after two fishermen reported seeing a female underwater, according to the sheriff’s office. The witnesses directed responders to the location, where personnel observed the woman about 10 to 15 feet below the surface.

Divers with the sheriff’s office recovered the body.

Investigators found personal items near the shoreline along Pipeline Trail believed to belong to Vickie Lynn Cutler, 37. Authorities have not released a cause of death.

The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation, the sheriff’s office said.

It is the first drowning at a Maricopa County lake or river in 2026.
