Swimmer drowns at Lake Pleasant for 2nd consecutive weekend

A swimmer has died at Lake Pleasant for a second consecutive weekend, authorities announced.

PHOENIX – A swimmer has died at Lake Pleasant for a second consecutive weekend, authorities announced Tuesday.

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call about a man who went underwater and did not resurface around 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

Divers were deployed to search the Two Cow Cove area of the Peoria Lake and found the man’s body around 7:30 p.m. The victim’s name was not released.

MCSO said there were no signs of foul play or alcohol/drug use related to the Lake Pleasant drowning incident.

No other details about the case were made available.

The incident came one week after a man went underwater at Lake Pleasant and did not resurface while trying to swim back to a boat near South Barker Island.

Search crews recovered the victim’s body last Thursday.

This keeps up and the lake will be renamed Lake Unpleasant.
