Sportswear giant Puma is celebrating the opening of its regional distribution center in metro Phoenix to showcase the facility’s highly automated operations.
The German company was set to hold a ceremony on Nov. 20 with Gov. Katie Hobbs and officials with the Greater Phoenix Economic Council and the Arizona Commerce Authority at its new warehouse that’s located in Glendale at 8900 N. Sarival Ave.
It announced earlier this year that was set to finish work on its facility, about two years after it had signed a 15-year lease at the 303 Crossroads project.
The company said at the time that it would process orders from Puma’s wholesale partners and its golf subsidiary Cobra and that its facility would feature 3.5 miles of conveyer, automated retrieval and storage systems and a new cubing process for packaging optimization.
Puma partnered with Norwegian logistics technology company AutoStore and Indiana-based systems integrator Bastian Solutions for its automated fulfillment operations at its 1 million-square-foot facility along the Loop 303.
