Detectives arrested the fiancé of a Buckeye mother who was assaulted inside her home this month, uncovering what authorities describe as a coordinated plan between the victim’s partner and a man he met online.
Buckeye police took 23-year-old Zarian Dyer into custody Thursday morning at his workplace near Roosevelt Street and Verrado Way. He faces a list of charges, including conspiracy, kidnapping, attempted sexual assault, sexual abuse and aggravated assault.
The arrest stems from an incident on Friday, Oct. 16, when officers responded around 6 p.m. to a report of an assault near Southern Avenue and Miller Road.
Police said the victim was at home with her two children when a stranger walked inside and attacked her. The woman fought off the intruder, who fled the scene before officers arrived.
The following day, investigators identified the suspect as 20-year-old Adrian Ayala and arrested him at his home in Goodyear.
During questioning, Ayala alleged he went to the house after striking a deal online with Dyer to sexually assault the victim.
Detectives seized electronic devices from both Ayala and Dyer during the investigation. A review of the digital evidence revealed communications between the two men detailing the planned attack, according to police.
