PHOENIX — Thousands of custom Chevys, GMC trucks and other cars from all over the U.S., Mexico and Canada will be at the 11th annual Dino’s Git Down at Westgate in Glendale this weekend.
Taking place Friday and Saturday, 2,500 vehicles will be on display each day for the free event that celebrates American-made automobiles.
The event runs from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.
Only Chevys will be displayed on Friday, according to a press release, followed by General Motors cars and trucks of all types on Saturday.
The custom trucks, which range in models from 1947 to 1998 – will be accompanied by 90 manufacturing booths selling a variety of items targeted to GM enthusiasts including chassis, breaks, apparel and air ride suspension kits.
“There is no admission fee, no truck entry fees and no awards given, just an opportunity for GM truck lovers to share their vehicles with the community,” Dino Battilana, founder of the event and an owner of numerous custom Chevy C10 trucks, said in the release.
“You will see similar trucks selling for $200,000 at car auctions.”
Battilana started the event in the parking lot of his appliance repair shop. He later added a second day and moved the event to Westgate as the popularity grew.
More than 25,000 people attended the two-day event last year.
