PHOENIX – A woman who was in a vehicle rear-ended by a driver suspected of being impaired last week in central Phoenix has died, authorities said Monday.

The collision occurred around 2:30 a.m. Friday when a black sedan stopped or slowed on Camelback Road near Central Avenue and was hit from behind by a red SUV, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

A passenger in the sedan, 37-year-old Andreanna Blaine, was taken to the hospital in extremely critical condition, and she died Saturday, police said.

The SUV driver, 42-year-old Thaila J. Begaye, was arrested at the scene and booked on suspicion of driving while impaired.

Police said the case remains under investigation and additional charges are pending.
