PHOENIX — Phoenix police said a man has died in a fatal traffic crash after he apparently lost control of his car and collided into a pickup truck Saturday morning.

Authorities responded to the fatal incident around 9:45 a.m. near 43rd and Missouri avenues and learned a sedan was traveling northbound when it supposedly lost control and swerved left, striking a pickup truck.

The man driving the sedan suffered serious injuries and died at the scene, Phoenix police Sgt. Andy Williams said in a press release.

The man was identified as 18-year-old Jacob Moreno on Sunday.

Two other men in the truck were not injured.

Police said impairment isn’t believed to be a factor.

Authorities closed 43rd Avenue in both directions from Medlock Drive to Missouri Avenue while investigators were on scene.

No additional information was made available.
