PHOENIX – The Arizona Humane Society recently came to the rescue of an orphaned kitten that was trapped inside a double brick wall.
AHS emergency animal medical technicians Ruthie Jesus and Dan McGrath spent an hour freeing the adorable orange tabby after a good Samaritan reported hearing her cries, AHS said Tuesday in a press release.
The rescuers carefully sledgehammered a hole in the outside wall to get the kitten out without harming her.
Given the nature of her predicament, they started affectionately calling her Wall-E.
Wall-E suffered swelling, soft tissue damage and a few wounds. AHS’ Second Chance Animal Trauma Hospital nursed her back to health, including round-the-clock care in the shelter’s Bottle Baby ICU.
Now 6-weeks-old, Wall-E is being fostered by the good Samaritan who found her until she is ready for adoption.
AHS is looking for foster homes for 30 cats and kittens, 25 dogs and five other critters. The shelter provides all the supplies and medical treatment the animals need until they are adopted.
