PHOENIX – Four people were injured, including two on-duty Phoenix police officers, when multiple vehicles collided at an intersection late Tuesday.
The three vehicles crashed at 27th Avenue and Bethany Home Road around 11 p.m., first responders said.
A spokesman for the Phoenix Fire Department said all four were taken to the hospital in serious condition.
A 40-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman were in the other cars, authorities said.
Phoenix Police Sgt. Mercedes Fortune said the patrol unit was damaged to the point where the doors wouldn’t open and at least one of the officers had to be extricated.
“Their injuries are not life-threatening,” Mercedes said of the officers.
The investigation is ongoing, Fortune said.
