PHOENIX — One man died and three others were injured Sunday in a boating accident at Lake Pleasant, authorities said.
Shaba Isaac, 41, was found submerged in the water at about midnight near Roadrunner Island, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.
No foul play was suspected in Isaac’s death, according to MCSO.
Deputies first responded to the lake at about 6 p.m. and found four adults and four children in the water.
The group was riding on a towable device and boat when the four children and an adult on the towable device fell into the water, MCSO said.
The men in the boat jumped in the water to save the children, who were all wearing life vests.
Only one of the men was wearing a life vest and they became distressed because of the water’s cool temperature, MCSO said.
The boat drifted away because its remaining passengers didn’t know how to operate it, according to MCSO.
Three people were taken to Honor Health Deer Valley with non-life-threatening injuries due to environmental exposure and water ingestion.
