Two people and a stabbing suspect are dead following an officer-involved shooting late Saturday night at a Gilbert residence, authorities said.
Gilbert Police officers responded to an unknown trouble call just before 11 p.m. near Lindsay and Elliot roads.
The caller said that someone living in a detached structure on the property had been stabbed and gave police a short description of a male suspect, police said.
Upon arrival, officers headed toward the back of the property, which contains multiple living structures and buildings, police said. As officers approached one of the buildings, they heard a woman screaming inside.
At the structure, officers encountered a man matching the suspect’s description. The man ran further into the residence, where officers found a woman and an injured man.
Police chased the suspect into a bedroom, where the officer-involved shooting occurred, according to authorities.
The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers located three stabbing victims on the property, two women and one man.
The male stabbing victim died at the scene. One female victim was taken to a local hospital, where she later died from her injuries. The second female victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and is receiving treatment at a local hospital.
Police said there are no outstanding suspects. The identities of the deceased and the suspect have not yet been released.
The Mesa Police Department will lead the investigation into the officer-involved shooting as part of the East Valley Critical Incident Response Team.
