PHOENIX — A man from a city northwest of Tucson has been sentenced to 12 years behind bars for assaulting a federal officer with a deadly weapon among other crimes, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced Monday.
Chris Paul Snow, 68, of Marana, Arizona, was also convicted of unlawful possession of a destructive device, possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon and use of a firearm during a crime of violence.
Authorities found several rounds of ammunition, loaded firearm magazines and a live grenade in Snow’s bedroom after responding to his residence in August 2018 for a shooting incident, according to a press release.
A warrant was issued for the arrest of Snow for unlawfully possessing the grenade and ammunition.
When authorities attempted to take Snow into custody for the charges a month later, he pointed a gun at one of the agents and refused to drop it.
Agents were able to disarm and arrest Snow, charging him with three additional crimes resulting from the subsequent incident.
He was convicted of all five charges in October 2020 following a trial.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department aided the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives with the investigation of the case, according to the release.
