FBI arrests suspect accused of robbing 7 metro Phoenix banks

PHOENIX — The Federal Bureau of Investigation has arrested a suspect accused of robbing seven metro Phoenix banks between June and August.
Scott David Williams, 59, was taken into custody Aug. 28 in connection with the string of robberies that allegedly began June 26 and ended on the day of his arrest.
Williams was said to mostly target banks in the West Valley, hitting four Chase locations, two credit unions and a West Valley National Bank location.
Here’s the dates and cities of the alleged robberies:
• June 26, Surprise
• July 17, Sun City
• July 27, Peoria
• Aug. 6, Sun City
• Aug. 6, Peoria
• Aug. 17, Goodyear
• Aug. 28, Phoenix
Authorities said Williams approached tellers and verbally demanded money.
Nobody was injured during the robberies, the FBI said.
No other information was immediately available.
