PHOENIX — Ride-share company Lyft has revealed its annual list of the most popular destinations from the past year and there were some new additions for the Phoenix area.
Talking Stick Resort Arena, the Melrose District and the Clubhouse at Maya were all honored as popular Phoenix-area destinations as part of the 5th annual Lyftie Awards.
“Lyft believes in improving the lives of our communities and this year, we’re proud to celebrate the businesses, drivers and different modes of transportation that makes each of our cities special,” Drena Kusari, regional director of Lyft’s Southwest region, said in a press release.
“We know that the backbone of our communities rely on people and ways they’re connected to thrive. We look forward to championing Phoenix’s winners for the fifth year in a row and providing reliable, affordable transportation.”
Talking Stick Resort Arena, the home of the Phoenix Suns and Phoenix Mercury basketball teams, won the award for the most celebrated venue.
A multitude of concerts and other events take place at the downtown Phoenix venue in addition to more than 50 basketball games per year.
The Melrose District was named the most popular late night neighborhood.
The LGBTQ-friendly neighborhood is located on Seventh Avenue between Indian School and Camelback roads in central Phoenix.
Finally, the Clubhouse at Maya was honored as the most celebrated restaurant/bar.
It is located in the popular Scottsdale Entertainment District.
Last year, Lyft honored seven Phoenix-area destinations and with different categories.
They included El Hefe in Scottsdale (most-visited bar), State Farm Stadium (most popular concert venue) and the Scottsdale Entertainment District (most popular late night neighborhood).
