Harkins Theatres to honor Doris Day with metro Phoenix screenings

PHOENIX — Doris Day fans in metro Phoenix will soon be able to indulge in some of her classic films while giving back to a nonprofit organization.
Scottsdale-based chain Harkins Theatres will offer two days of special screenings of Day’s films at three of its Phoenix-area locations.
Day died at her Carmel Valley, California, home on Monday. She was 97.
“Doris Day was a true Hollywood icon and will be greatly missed,” Harkins Theatres owner Dan Harkins said in a statement.
“We are proud to honor her memory through film and to help support a charity that meant so much to her.”

Profits from the screenings of “Lover Come Back,” “Pillow Talk” and “The Man Who Knew Too Much” will benefit the Doris Day Animal Foundation.
The showings will take place at 1:30 p.m., 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
The $5 tickets went on sale Tuesday.
The locations that will be involved are:
• Arrowhead Fountains at 83rd Avenue and Mariners Way in Peoria
• Shea at Shea Boulevard and Scottsdale Road in Scottsdale
• Superstition Springs at Superstition Freeway and Power Road in Mesa
