PHOENIX – In an act of kindness that’s anything but random, one East Valley city has a new moniker.
Last month, the Gilbert Town Council approved a resolution to adopt Kindness USA as the suburb’s official nickname.
As part of the resolution, the town will ask the U.S. Postal Service to deliver mail addressed to Kindness USA to Gilbert.
In addition, local marketing agency Clearly Relevant will work, at no charge, with Google Maps to direct users searching for the nickname to Gilbert.
The resolution, which was unanimously approved on Jan. 22, also established April 22-28 as Gilbert Kindness week.
It’s all part of the town’s ongoing #GilbertKindness campaign, which was launched in 2017 to celebrate selflessness.
As part of the program, Gilbert’s social media accounts have been sharing stories of kindness submitted to the town’s website.
Here are a few recent examples:
There are some days when we especially appreciate the kindness of a stranger. 💛 ⤵️
