Light rain continued across the Valley into Wednesday morning ahead of heavier showers that are expected later in the day.

PHOENIX — Light rain continued across the Valley into Wednesday morning ahead of heavier showers that are expected later in the day.
Light showers moved across portions of the Valley around 7:10 a.m., according to the National Weather Service.

Rain first appeared on Tuesday evening in central and western portions of the Phoenix metro area.
Outer parts of the Valley, including Goodyear, Wittmann and Cave Creek, saw 0.04 inches fall in parts of the area since Tuesday.
The Phoenix metro area is expected to see even more rain on Wednesday and Thursday, and high temperatures are forecast to drop into the low 70s and high 60s by the weekend, according to the NWS.
On Tuesday, Phoenix broke a 50-year-old heat record, as temperatures climbed to 80 degrees.
