Details of weekend closures on Loop 101
Both directions of Loop 101 are scheduled to be closed between 75th Avenue and Thunderbird Road in Glendale and Peoria. However, the closures are planned for separate nights.
The southbound lanes of the freeway are scheduled to be closed from 9 p.m. Friday to noon Saturday.
The closure for the northbound lanes is scheduled to take place from 9 p.m. Saturday to noon Sunday.
The closures are due to pavement sealing.
During the southbound closure, the westbound Loop 101 on-ramps at 59th and 67th avenues will be closed. ADOT advised drivers to exit southbound on 59th Avenue before heading westbound on Thunderbird Road to reach Loop 101.
Meanwhile, for the northbound closure, the northbound on-ramps at Peoria Avenue and Cactus Road/91st Avenue will be closed. The traffic authority recommended that motorists exit ahead of the closure and use northbound 75th or 67th avenues to reach Loop 101.
ADOT noted that crews will reopen Loop 101 in sections as work is completed on the pavement sealing project.
In addition to the closures, eastbound Loop 101 will be narrowed to two lanes in two places, between 75th and 67th avenues as well as between 43rd and 27th avenues. The westbound Loop 101 HOV lane will also be closed in both areas.
The lanes will be narrowed from 10 p.m. Friday to 6 p.m. Saturday for freeway lighting work.
Details on weekend construction on Loop 202
The Loop 202 Santan Freeway will narrow to two lanes in both directions for a widening project.
The lane narrowing will be between Cooper and Lindsay roads in Chandler. It will take place from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
ADOT advised drivers to allow for extra travel time and asked motorists to use caution in work zones.
