Construction crews get back to work on Valley freeway projects this weekend

PHOENIX – After a weekend off for the Easter holiday, construction crews are returning to work on Valley freeway projects.

The biggest disruption for drivers will be on a long stretch of Interstate 10 as work continues on the Broadway Curve Improvement Project, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) Weekend Freeway Travel Advisory for April 25-28.

Eastbound I-10 and associated ramps will be closed from US 60 (Superstition Freeway) in Tempe down to the Loop 202 Santan Freeway in the Chandler/Ahwatukee area from 10 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday for drainage work and lane striping.

Eastbound traffic can detour via the Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway or US 60 to the southbound Loop 101 Price Freeway and then take the westbound Loop 202 Santan Freeway to get back to I-10.

Motorists coming from the West Valley can avoid the construction zone by using the Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway, which connects with I-10 beyond the closure.

What other Valley freeway work is scheduled?

Motorists should also be on the lookout for the following restrictions related to metro Phoenix freeway work this weekend:

• In Chandler, Arizona Avenue will close in both directions at the Loop 202 Santan Freeway from 10 p.m. Friday to 4 p.m. Sunday for a widening project.
• In Scottsdale, Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard will close in both directions at the Loop 101 Pima Freeway from 1 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday for bridge work.

In a longer term disruption, the eastbound Loop 202 Santan Freeway on-ramp at Price Road in Chandler will close for two months starting at 11:30 p.m. Friday.
