US 60/Grand Avenue reopens in Glendale after fatal crash

Both directions of the US 60/Grand Avenue reopened after a fatal crash in Glendale on Friday afternoon.

PHOENIX — Both directions of the US 60/Grand Avenue reopened after a fatal crash in Glendale on Friday afternoon, authorities said.

The highway reopened around 2:12 p.m., according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

The closure occurred around 10:30 a.m. due to a crash near Royal Palm Road, according to ADOT.

A westbound car drove into the back of a tanker truck that was backing into a business. The road was blocked with traffic cones at the time, according to the Glendale Police Department.

The driver of the car, 51-year-old Daniel Scott Sargent, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The westbound side of US 60 was closed at 67th Avenue and eastbound was closed at 71st Avenue.
