Road construction is scheduled on freeways across metro Phoenix this weekend.

Crews have work to do on Interstate 10, State Route 51, US 60 and all three Valley loops over the next few days, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation Weekend Freeway Travel Advisory.

All of the following traffic restrictions are subject to change due to weather or other factors.

Closures scheduled for SR 51, US 60 in Phoenix and Loop 202 in East Valley

In Phoenix, southbound SR 51 is set to close from Cactus Road to Northern Avenue for pavement work from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. The closure includes the on-ramps from Bell Road to 26th Street.

ADOT is advising drivers to use southbound Seventh Street to bypass the SR 51 closure.

Also in Phoenix, US 60 (Grand Avenue) is set to close in both directions from 27th Avenue to Thomas Road for bridge work from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

ADOT suggests using Encanto Boulevard or Thomas Road for east-west travel and 27th Avenue or 23rd Avenue for north-south travel while Grand Avenue is closed.

In the East Valley, the westbound Loop 202 San Tan Freeway is set to close from Gilbert Road to Arizona Avenue for a widening project from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. The closure includes the on-ramps from San Tan Village Parkway to McQueen Road.

ADOT suggests using westbound Pecos Road or Germann Road to get back on westbound Loop 202 at Arizona Avenue or Alma School Road.

Three closures scheduled for West Valley freeways

The following projects could affect traffic in the West Valley this weekend:

  • The eastbound Loop 101 Agua Fria Freeway is set to close from 51st Avenue to 27th Avenue for a widening project from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. The closure includes the eastbound Loop 101 on-ramps from 75th Avenue to 59th Avenue. ADOT suggests using eastbound Union Hills Drive to connect with eastbound Loop 101 or I-17.
  • Eastbound I-10 is set to close from Verrado Way to Citrus Road for a widening project from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. The closure includes the eastbound I-10 on-ramps from Miller Road to Perryville Road. ADOT suggests using eastbound Yuma Road or McDowell Road to get on eastbound I-10 at Citrus Road.
  • Eastbound Loop 303 is set to close from 43rd Avenue to I-17 for bridge work from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Westbound Loop 303 will be narrowed to one lane in the same area. ADOT suggests using northbound 43rd Avenue to eastbound Dove Valley Road to connect to I-17.

Beyond the freeway system, watch out for multiple closures in Tempe for three events: Saturday’s Arizona State University-Colorado football game and Sunday’s Second Sundays on Mill market and Sun Devil Classic Triathlon.
