Road construction is scheduled on freeways across metro Phoenix on what is expected to be a stormy Halloween weekend.

Crews have work to do on State Route 51 and all three Valley loops over the next few days, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation Weekend Freeway Travel Advisory for Oct. 30 to Nov. 2.

With rain in the forecast, it should be noted that all of the following traffic restrictions are subject to change.

Closures scheduled for State Route 51 in Phoenix and Loop 202 in East Valley

In Phoenix, southbound SR 51 is set to close from Cactus Road to Northern Avenue for pavement work from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. The closure includes the on-ramps from Bell Road to 26th Street.

ADOT is advising drivers to use Seventh Street to bypass the SR 51 closure.

In the East Valley, the eastbound Loop 202 Santan Freeway is set to close from McQueen Road to Cooper Road for a widening project from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. The closure includes the on-ramps from Dobson Road to Arizona Avenue.

ADOT suggests using Pecos Road or Germann Road in the area while Loop 202 is closed.

Three closures scheduled for West Valley freeways

The following projects could affect traffic in the West Valley this weekend:

  • The westbound Loop 101 Agua Fria Freeway is set to close from Interstate 17 to 51st Avenue for pavement work from 8 p.m. Friday to noon Sunday. The closure includes both I-17 ramps to westbound Loop 101 and the westbound Loop 101 on-ramps from Seventh Street to Seventh Avenue.
  • Eastbound Loop 303 is set to close from 43rd Avenue to I-17 for bridge work from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 p.m. Saturday.
  • The westbound I-10 frontage road is set to close from 91st Avenue to 99th Avenue for an improvement project from an undetermined time Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.
