PHOENIX — Slow traffic is expected for drivers using the Interstate 17 between Flagstaff and Munds Park on Monday, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

The traffic is due to work taking place on the wildlife overpass under construction near Willard Springs Road.

Traffic will be limited to one lane in each direction and crews will be shifting traffic from southbound I-17 to northbound, according to ADOT.

The purpose of the project is to improve wildlife habitat connections while decreasing the risk of crashes involving animals.

The project is expected to be completed by fall 2026.
