Northbound State Route 347, the main route from Maricopa to the Phoenix area, reopened Thursday afternoon, hours after a deadly crash during the morning commute, authorities said.
The three-vehicle collision occurred just before 6:30 a.m. north of Casa Blanca Road, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
One person was killed in the crash and two others required hospitalization for unspecified injuries, DPS said.
The closure was at Casa Blanca Road, creating a major disruption for commuters. The roadway didn’t reopen until nearly 2 p.m.
The crash didn’t affect the southbound lanes of SR 347.
