PHOENIX – Arizona transportation officials are warning drivers to plan around another weekend of road restrictions in north, south and central parts of the Valley.

Full closures on State Route 51 and the Loop 202 Santan Freeway headline the Arizona Department of Transportation’s Weekend Freeway Travel Advisory for April 17-20.

In central Phoenix, northbound SR 51 will be closed from Interstate 10 to Colter Street north of Camelback road from 9 a.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Crews will redoing the surface asphalt for a smoother drive.

That closure also shuts down all I-10 and Loop 202 ramps to northbound SR 51, along with the southbound SR 51 HOV ramp to eastbound I-10.

Closure at 202 and Price Road in Chandler

Meanwhile, eastbound Loop 202 will be closed between Price Road and Arizona Avenue in Chandler from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday so crews continue work on a widening project.

That roadwork also closes southbound Loop 101 ramps to eastbound Loop 202.

The westbound Loop 202 off-ramp at McQueen Road is also impacted. Crews will close this ramp for reconstruction until mid-June. That closure begins Saturday at 2 a.m.

Other restrictions on Valley’s northside, near Deer Valley

Furthermore, drivers should watch out for restrictions in two spots in north Phoenix.

Northbound I-17 will be narrowed to two lanes near Loop 303 from 9 p.m. Friday to 2 p.m. Saturday for work on the Loop 303 improvement project between I-17 and 51st Avenue.

North- and southbound I-17 ramps to westbound Loop 101 will be closed from Sunday at 9 p.m. until Tuesday at 5 a.m. for crews to widen the roadway. That includes a widening project on the northbound I-17 on-ramp at Deer Valley Road, which will have overnight weekend closures until mid-June.

Reggae Rise Up Arizona will impact Tempe streets

On surface streets, Tempe Beach Park will be closed all weekend for the Reggae Rise Up concert series. Rio Salodo Parkway is closed until Sunday at 10 p.m. Southbound lanes are closed over the Mill Avenue Bridge starting at Curry Road.
