Road closures will snarl Phoenix-area travel this weekend as work shuts lanes on five freeways. Here are the detours drivers need to know about.

As you head into the weekend, roadwork across the Valley is set to affect your travel plans.

Construction projects will shut down or restrict lanes on State Route 51, Loop 101 Pima Freeway, Loop 202 Santan Freeway, US 60 Superstition Freeway and Loop 303, the Arizona Department of Transportation said.

The traffic authority broke down the different closures in its weekend travel advisory for June 26 to 29.

SR 51 northbound closes for pavement work through Monday

As it has for several past weekends, northbound SR 51 shuts down between the Interstate 10 “Mini-Stack” interchange and Indian School Road from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for a pavement improvement project.

All I-10 and Loop 202 ramps to northbound SR 51 will be closed during that time.

ADOT recommends northbound Interstate 17 as an alternate freeway route to reach north Phoenix. Other detour options include 16th, 24th and 32nd streets.

Santan Freeway widening project brings closures in Chandler

In Chandler, eastbound Loop 202 Santan Freeway closes between Alma School and Cooper roads from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for the ongoing widening project.

Southbound Loop 101 Price Freeway ramps to eastbound Loop 202 will also be closed, along with eastbound Loop 202 on-ramps at Price and Dobson roads.

Alternative routes include Chandler Boulevard, Pecos Road and Germann Road.

The westbound Loop 202 off-ramp at Price Road closes from 3 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Drivers can use the westbound Loop 202 off-ramp at Dobson Road instead.

US 60 Superstition Freeway closes eastbound Saturday night into Sunday

Staying in the East Valley, eastbound lanes of US 60 Superstition Freeway will shut down between Crismon and Tomahawk roads from 10 p.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday for pavement maintenance.

Baseline Road and Southern Avenue can be used as alternate routes to travel beyond the closure.

Loop 101 Pima Freeway faces southbound and northbound closures

Southbound Loop 101 Pima Freeway closes between Princess Drive and Shea Boulevard from 10 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Sunday for pavement improvements. Eastbound and southbound Loop 101 on-ramps at Scottsdale and Hayden roads will also be closed.

ADOT suggests southbound SR 51 as an alternate freeway route. Drivers can also use southbound Scottsdale Road to eastbound Shea Boulevard.

After the full closure lifts, southbound Loop 101 narrows to four lanes from 4 a.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday. Drivers should expect possible on- and off-ramp closures in the area during that window.

In a separate project, northbound Loop 101 Pima Freeway closes between Broadway Road and the Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway interchange from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for pavement work. The northbound Loop 101 on-ramp at Southern Avenue will also be closed. ADOT advises using local-street detours.
