Traffic is delayed on the Loop 101 Pima Freeway after a fiery crash in Scottsdale on Thursday morning, authorities said.
Southbound Loop 101 is closed at Via de Ventura after one person was seriously injured in a single-vehicle collision shortly before 4 a.m., according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
A pickup truck struck a median wall before coming to a stop in the HOV lane and catching fire, DPS said.
Scottsdale Fire Department crews put out the fire and took the driver to a hospital.
Until the scene is cleared, southbound traffic is being diverted to the Via de Ventura off-ramp and can reenter the freeway from the on-ramp at the same exit.
DPS expects to complete the investigation and cleanup about 7:30 a.m.
The crash did not affect the northbound lanes.
