4 Phoenix freeway closures planned for Juneteenth, Father’s Day weekend

As you start your Juneteenth and Father’s Day weekend, weekend roadwork is going to impact your Valley travel.

Construction projects will shut down or squeeze lanes on State Route 51, Loop 202 Santan Freeway, Loop 101 Pima Freeway, and Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway, the Arizona Department of Transportation said.

The traffic authority broke down the different closures in its weekend travel advisory.

SR 51 northbound shuts down for pavement work through Monday

Northbound SR 51 closes between the Interstate 10 “Mini-Stack” and Indian School Road from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for a pavement improvement project.

All I-10 and Loop 202 ramps to northbound SR 51 will be closed.

ADOT marked I-17 northbound as an alternate freeway route to north Phoenix. Other detour routes include northbound 16th, 24th or 32nd streets.

Widening project sparks freeway and road closures in Chandler

Eastbound Loop 202 Santan Freeway in the Chandler area closes between Alma School Road and Cooper Road from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for a widening project.

Southbound Loop 101 Price Freeway ramps to eastbound Loop 202 will also be closed. Eastbound Loop 202 on-ramps at Price and Dobson roads will also be closed.

Alternative routes include Chandler Boulevard, Pecos Road or Germann Road.

As part of the same widening project, Lindsay Road closes in both directions at Loop 202 from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 p.m. Saturday for construction.

Loop 101 Pima Freeway northbound closes in Scottsdale for pavement work

Northbound Loop 101 Pima Freeway closes between Shea Boulevard and Princess Drive in Scottsdale for a pavement improvement project.

Northbound Loop 101 on-ramps at 90th Street and Via De Ventura will also be closed. ADOT recommends exiting ahead of the closure and using northbound Scottsdale Road to Loop 101.

The closure runs from 10 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Sunday.

Red Mountain Freeway ramp closures hit the Tempe area through Monday

Westbound Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway ramps to northbound and southbound Loop 101 in the Tempe area close from 8 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for a pavement improvement project.

The eastbound Loop 202 ramp to northbound Loop 101 will also be closed. ADOT recommends exiting Loop 202 ahead of the ramp closures and using alternate routes to connect to Loop 101. Detour routes will be marked.
