A deadly overnight crash on Interstate 10 disrupted the Thursday morning commute from the West Valley into downtown Phoenix.

PHOENIX – A deadly overnight crash on Interstate 10 disrupted the Thursday morning commute from the West Valley into downtown Phoenix.

One person was killed in a single-vehicle collision on westbound I-10 near 16th Street at 12:40 a.m., according to the according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

No other details about the wreck were immediately available.

Westbound I-10 was closed for several hours after the crash, according to ABC15. Traffic remained heavier than usual for morning commuters after the closure was lifted.

As of 7 a.m., westbound I-10 was backed up from the Deck Park Tunnel to the Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway. Traffic was especially heavy near I-17.
