Ni Hao Bao Dumpling House sets opening date for Scottsdale restaurant

PHOENIX — An opening date has been set for a new restaurant in Scottsdale that was created by two Arizona natives.

Ni Hao Bao Dumpling House, which was created by longtime friends Darrell Ngo and Arin Finger, will open on Jan. 16, with a grand opening celebration planned for 11 a.m.

The restaurant will be located at 9301 E. Shea Boulevard in Scottsdale, just east of the HonorHealth Scottsdale Medical Center.

Prior to opening Ni Hao Bao, Ngo spent more than two decades with P.F. Chang’s, helping open eight restaurants as the company’s senior culinary innovation chef. Finger was previously a visual effects and animation producer, working on movies such as “Hellboy,” “Night at the Museum” and “Tron: Legacy,” according to his IMDB page.

What to expect at Ni Hao Bao Dumpling House in Scottsdale

The 1,500-square-foot restaurant, which features a dog-friendly patio, will offer customers “the energy of an Asian street market,” according to a Thursday press release.

“Our goal was to create a place where everyone feels welcome,” Ngo said in the release.

On the menu, customers can expect to find handmade meat and vegetarian dumplings, crispy and steamed bao buns, wontons and homemade boba drinks.

“We didn’t want another copy-and-paste concept. We wanted bold flavor, made fresh, served fast and shared with the community we love,” the owners wrote on the store’s website, which is set to offer online ordering and a loyalty program once the restaurant opens.
