New owners purchase former fine dining Chart House Scottsdale location

Prime Steak Concepts has purchased the Scottsdale property that was formerly known as the Chart House.

PHOENIX — Prime Steak Concepts has purchased the Scottsdale property that was formerly known as the Chart House.

The new owners are a local and family-owned company behind other fine dining spots including, Dominick’s Steakhouse, Steak 44, Ocean 44 and Durant’s.

After more than 40 years of serving up high-end steaks and plates, Chart House will close its doors.

The property is located near Scottsdale Road and McCormick Parkway.

Prime Steak Concepts is owned by brothers Michael, Jeffrey and Dennis Mastro along with Scott Troilo.

The Mastro brothers were 2020 James Beard Award semifinalists in the outstanding restaurateur category.

The team owns luxury restaurants Steak 48 and Ocean 48 with locations in Chicago, Houston, Charlotte, Philadelphia and Beverly Hills.

The team also purchased the iconic Durant’s Steakhouse earlier this year. The spot is under renovation and is scheduled to reopen this fall.

Chart House opened in 1984 and was well-known for its beautiful views.

The owners are in a research and development phase to come up with new ideas for the location.

“We are excited to bring a new concept and new building to this incredible location. The entire property will be re-imagined,” Prime Steak Concepts co-owner Jeff Mastro said in a statement.

“We have been developing a great new concept and menu and are excited to share it with our community and our guests. My brother Mike and I grew up just a few blocks away in McCormick Ranch and this is the perfect place for us to do something very special that fits this iconic location.”

The new restaurant is scheduled to be completed in fall 2026.
