The Republican, who has endorsed Hobbs' opponent, Andy Biggs, did not provide any reasoning for why he believes she is dumb other than to refer to her appearance.

President Donald Trump took shots at Gov. Katie Hobbs during his speech at an Arizona rally on Wednesday afternoon.

Trump called the Democratic governor, who is running for reelection, “your failed, radical left governor Katie Hobbs.”

He also insulted her intelligence, comparing her unfavorably to Elon Musk.

“She’s horrible. First of all, she’s a dumb person. You ever see her? She looks — I swear, she’s a dumb — I know smart people. I mean, I deal — from Elon, down to Katie, I figure there’s a big difference,” he said, gesturing downward.

Trump spent much of his speech campaigning for Republican U.S. Rep. Andy Biggs, who is running against Hobbs in the Nov. 3 general election. Biggs, a longtime Trump supporter, has the president’s endorsement. Biggs spoke before Trump took the stage.

“The president can call me whatever names he wants. I’ll keep putting Arizona first,” Hobbs said on X after the president’s speech. “While he’s busy insulting me, his tariffs and the war in Iran are driving up costs for Arizona families. And Andy Biggs has backed him every step of the way.”

Why did President Donald Trump rally in Arizona?

Arizona is a key swing state, with several statewide offices on the ballot, including governor, secretary of state, attorney general, treasurer and superintendent of public instruction. Early voting started last week.

During his speech in Bullhead City, which is in the staunchly red Mohave County, the president also reiterated claims he has made for years that Arizona elections were rigged, pointing to problems with voting machines.

“What a shame that was, and Katie Hobbs had a lot to do with it, so maybe I can’t call her a Dumbocrat, but she is a dumb person. I don’t give a damn. But what a rigged election that was,” Trump said.

Trump did not specify which election he was referring to and did not provide evidence to support his claim that the election was rigged or that Hobbs was responsible.

He did, however, urge his supporters to vote in favor of the Republican party.

“Early voting in Arizona’s already underway, and will continue through Oct. 30, and I just hope you do what’s right,” Trump said.
