PHOENIX — Sunrise Park Resort is closing its ski season this weekend and is hosting special events to commemorate the occasion.

The eastern Arizona resort will host live music, night skiing and a fireworks display Saturday at sundown to mark the closing.

The final lift for the 2020-21 season will leave the base of Sunrise Mountain at 4 p.m. on Sunday.

“Although this year’s season was short, I am very proud of the Sunrise team,” general manager Roger Leslie said in a press release. “They have rallied together to combat many challenges this season, a slow start to snowfall and significant melting this season.”

Customers will get live music from Lady Krow and Greywolf on Saturday before a night skiing session from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Discounts on lift tickets, food and drink will be available throughout the weekend.

“We are disappointed to be closing early this year but we will use this time to continue executing work on our resort development plan and preparing for our summer season,” Leslie said.
