Spanish restaurant Teleferic Barcelona leases space at Scottsdale Fashion Square

PHOENIX — Another culinary taste of Spain will be arriving in Arizona next year, as commercial real estate company JLL announced Teleferic Barcelona has signed a lease for space at Scottsdale Fashion Square.

The family-owned establishment, which opened in Sant Cugat del Valles, Spain in 1992, will stake its new home near Camelback and Scottsdale roads. Teleferic Barcelona has already expanded its reach to the United States with five locations in California, one in Seattle and several others in the works.

Guests can expect a variety of tapas, or small plates/appetizers, paellas (rice dishes) and cocktails to fill them up when the restaurant embeds in roughly the center of the Scottsdale mall.

Teleferic Barcelona was created by siblings Xavi and Maria Padrosa and, through partnerships with local American chefs, their family legacy lives on in the states. This Scottsdale location will be spearheaded by executive chef Oscar Cabezas, who will add a California twist to the traditional Spanish flavors in both tapas and paellas.

“Teleferic Barcelona is a creative, energetic team that is known for delivering exceptional cuisine in a unique and upbeat environment,” JLL executive vice president Regan Amato said in a press release. “Their newest restaurant will sit at the center of an award-winning shopping and dining destination, easily accessed by a central porte-cochere and served by valet parking. This site at Scottsdale Fashion Square is the perfect location for their Arizona debut.”

Featured menu items will be shareables such as Pulpo Teleferic, a Galician grilled octopus with pimenton potato puree, and Gambas al Ajillo, garlic-cooked shrimp. Among Teleferic’s signature paellas are Lobster Paella and Paella Negra, the latter consisting of squid ink and a shrimp-octopus combo.

Spanish-inspired wines, cocktails and sangrias will also be hot ticket items for future guests. A customer favorite is the Sangria Barceloneta, a prickly pear-infused, sparkling sangria.

Not only will guests have many spirits at their disposal, but they can literally try their hand with a porron, or “a traditional glass pitcher used to pour wine directly into the mouth.”

Amato represented Teleferic Barcelona in the lease negotiations of the restaurant with an undisclosed opening date in 2025.
