Son arrested in deadly shooting of 60-year-old Phoenix woman

PHOENIX – Police in Phoenix arrested a man suspected of shooting his mother to death in an Ahwatukee Foothills home Wednesday.

Robert Kistner, 33, was booked into Maricopa County Jail on first-degree murder charges of Monique Kistner, 60, the Phoenix Police Department said in a press release.

Police said the man had called them around 5:15 p.m. from a house near Chandler Boulevard and Fifth Avenue to report his mother had been shot and was dying.

When officers reached the address, they said Kistner came out with his hands in the air, and later, while he was being handcuffed, said he had shot his mother twice. He said nothing else.

Police went inside the house and found the woman unresponsive.

Emergency medical personnel with the Phoenix Fire Department tried to revive her but could not.

Investigators don’t know what led to the shooting but are still working the case.
