Here are the shops and restaurants Peoria residents wish to see the most

PHOENIX — The city of Peoria released the results of its 2026 retail and restaurant survey this week.

More than 2,100 Peoria residents responded to a survey that asked what retailers, restaurants and entertainment destinations they want to see come to their community.

“This level of participation shows how invested our residents are in Peoria’s future,” Maria Laughner, City of Peoria economic development director, said in a news release. “This feedback helps guide how we grow and bring more of what people want to the community they love.”

The top retailer and grocer that residents want to see come to Peoria was Trader Joe’s, with 44% of respondents voting for the national grocery chain. Whole Foods Market was second on the list with 41% of respondents, followed by AJ’s Fine Foods, Costco and Homegoods.

The most desired restaurant was the Valley’s Buck & Rider. The seafood restaurant has three locations with ones in Phoenix, Gilbert and Scottsdale. Mediterranean restaurant CAVA was second on the list, followed by Culinary Dropout, Flower Child and The Henry.

FatCats topped the most desired entertainment destination on the survey. The Utah-based chain has four locations in the Valley, with ones in Queen Creek, Surprise, Mesa and Gilbert that offer guests bowling, arcade games, mini golf and movies. Main Event, AMC Theatres and Topgolf were other top entertainment destinations on the survey.
