Authorities are seeking a person of interest in the shooting death of a juvenile in Globe early on New Year’s Day.

PHOENIX – Authorities are seeking a person of interest in the shooting death of a juvenile in Globe early on New Year’s Day.
A person called 911 to say his friend had been shot by an unknown suspect around 1:05 a.m. Thursday, according to the Gila County Sheriff’s Office (GSCO).
The shooting occurred at a home where people were gathered for a New Year’s celebration on the 5700 block of McKinney Avenue in Globe’s Central Heights area.
The victim, whose name and age were not released, was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries and died that afternoon.

Investigators said the suspect may have fled on foot and been picked up by an unknown vehicle.
They also identified 19-year-old Deshawn Tarango as a person of interest in the deadly shooting.
