PHOENIX — A Scottsdale man was arrested after allegedly shooting at police officers from inside his home on Sunday.

Vaughan Hanson, 27, shot numerous gunshots from inside his residence near Earll Drive and Westwood Street around 1 p.m. on Sunday, according to the Scottsdale Police Department.

Authorities said a couple of Hanson’s neighbors called and reported the shooting after they heard the gunshots.

Some of the gunshots were directed outside of Hanson’s home and struck two parked, unoccupied police vehicles. There was damage to the two police vehicles, the outside of a neighboring apartment building and Hanson’s home.

Scottsdale officers did not fire their weapons, and no injuries were reported, according to authorities.

Police confirmed no one else was inside Hanson’s home and evacuated some nearby homes as a precautionary measure.

While the SWAT team and authorities responded to the scene, Hanson barricaded himself inside his home for more than an hour. He ultimately walked out of his home and surrendered to police around 2:30 p.m. after negotiations.

Detectives subsequently took over the investigation and interviewed witnesses and the responding officers. A handgun with multiple shell casings was found inside Hanson’s home.

He was booked into jail in Maricopa County on multiple criminal charges. He faces 13 counts of aggravated assault on an officer, 13 counts of endangerment, one count of possession of narcotic drugs, one count of discharging a firearm within city limits and one count of disorderly conduct with a weapon.

Yes, one of your cousins would've probably killed somebody instead of just shooting at empty cop cars

Will it help if I say he should be in jail for a long time? Of course not, you won't listen anyway.
