PHOENIX — A man remains in critical condition after a Sunday night stabbing in Mesa, authorities said.
The Mesa Police Department said the attack occurred just after 9 p.m. near 56th and Main streets.
Medical aid was given to the man on the scene, after which he was brought to a local hospital, police said. He is still in critical condition as of noon on Monday.
The suspect, 35-year-old Ariel Sowell, was identified and detained while officers were investigating the scene, police said. She is facing aggravated assault charges.
It wasn’t the only stabbing in the Valley over the long holiday weekend. On Christmas Day, a man was hospitalized after a stabbing in Phoenix near Van Buren Street and 13th Avenue.
