PHOENIX — Scottsdale-based chain Discount Tire announced Friday it has acquired and will merge its operations with Indiana-based company Tire Rack.
The transaction is expected to close on Dec. 31, 2021, according to a press release.
As part of the agreement, the companies will work together on integration efforts, while Tire Rack advances its digital sales and online customer experience.
Operating nationwide, the combined company will employ over 25,000, according to the release.
Teams of Tire Rack are expected to continue in their roles, and Dean Muglia will remain as chief executive officer of Discount Tire.
Tire Rack CEO Mike Joines said in the release the company believes it can provide a greater impact through better service to its customers and better opportunities for its team members through the new partnership.
The tire testing company was sought after by Discount Tire for the same vision they share in transforming the omnichannel, B2B and fleet customer experiences, Michael Zuieback, Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors at Discount Tire, said in the release.
“We have for many years admired one another from afar, each pushing the industry forward to meet customers where they are most confident shopping for tires and wheels,” Dean Muglia, CEO at Discount Tire, said in the release.
Officials said they intend to use the brand name Tire Rack as Tirerack.com online and Tire Rack Mobile Installations in the mobile installation arena.
