A man and a woman have been arrested after a street racing incident led to a foot pursuit on the Scottsdale Airport tarmac Saturday night.

Liberty Dawn Still, 33, and Michael Gregory Wall, 24, were in a vehicle that Phoenix Police were attempting to stop for street racing when crashed through a locked security gate at Scottsdale Airport around 11:15 p.m., according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Authorities said the fleeing vehicle hit a detective’s car, an unoccupied small plane and a wall in the process. The suspects then ran away from the vehicle toward the active tarmac before one was tased and both were taken into custody by responding officers.

Police on the ground attempted to stop the vehicle only once it got to the locked gate, as it was actively being tracked by the Phoenix Police Air Support Unit prior to the trespassing incident at the airport, according to authorities.

Airport operations were not affected by the incident, and the Scottsdale Police Department assisted by securing the area and taking reports on the damaged property.

The FBI also responded to assume the ongoing investigation.
