SAFE Alert for missing 73-year-old last seen in Peoria canceled

PHOENIX — Authorities canceled a SAFE Alert for a missing 73-year-old man last seen in Peoria a few hours after issuing it on Wednesday.

Charles Monson, who is 5 feet, 10 inches tall, was last seen at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the area of Bell Road and 83rd Avenue in Peoria, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS).

He was found just south of Cordes Junction and was safe, according to a 5:27 p.m. update from the Peoria Police Department.

SAFE Alerts have replaced Silver Alerts in Arizona as a way to spread the word about missing persons who are 65 and older and missing persons who have dementia or developmental/cognitive disabilities.
