Police investigating fatal overnight hit-and-run in central Phoenix

PHOENIX — Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run collision that killed a male pedestrian in central Phoenix on Tuesday, authorities said.
Around 3:10 a.m., Phoenix PD responded to the area of 19th Avenue and Van Buren Street regarding a collision. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male with serious injuries.
The victim was transported to a nearby hospital but did not survive his injuries and was pronounced dead.
Phoenix PD believes the suspect was traveling eastbound and was driving a small sedan with an unknown color. The vehicle fled the scene and continued eastbound before police arrived.
No other details were made available.
