Teen indicted for allegedly shooting, killing father at family party

PHOENIX — A south Phoenix teen will be tried for murder after allegedly killing his father and injuring his mother in a shooting last month, the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday.

Victor Donovan Morales, 18, will face charges of second-degree murder, aggravated assault, disorderly conduct and misconduct involving weapons in connection with the shooting, which took place on June 24.

On that date, Phoenix police were called to a shooting at a family party near Seventh Street and Dobbins Road at about 2:20 a.m.

They found a man, identified as Victor Morales Lubvio, who had been shot multiple times and a woman, identified as Marlen Jimenez Guadarrama, who had been shot in the arm.

Both of them were hospitalized and Lubvio later died.

Police learned that Lubvio, Guadarrama and their son, Morales, were the only people inside the home when the shooting happened.

Officers later found a rifle belonging to Morales in the backyard of the home and a shell casing that matched the caliber of the rifle near Lubvio.

Morales turned himself in to Phoenix police on June 28, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

He is currently being held on a $1 million secured appearance bond and his trial is scheduled to begin in November.
