Police release identity of man in fatal south Phoenix shooting

PHOENIX — Police released the identity of a man on Sunday who died in a south Phoenix shooting last weekend, authorities said.

Alan Fernando Flores, 29, died after he was shot last Saturday afternoon, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Around 4:27 p.m., police responded to a shooting call near 3rd and Jones avenues.

Upon arrival, they found a man with a gunshot wound. He was taken to hospital where he later died due to his injuries.

After investigating, authorities arrested Cristian Leonel Valdez Serna, 26. He was booked into jail on murder charges, police said. 

The investigation remains ongoing.
