WM Phoenix Open has fewer calls for police service, sees more arrests than 2025

PHOENIX — The WM Phoenix Open, known as the rowdiest event on the PGA Tour schedule, saw fewer calls for police service in 2026 but significantly more arrests than the previous edition.
The Scottsdale Police Department announced Thursday that it responded to 857 calls for service during tournament week from Feb. 2 to Feb. 8. That number is down from 1,011 calls it received in 2025.
Eighty-eight people were arrested at TPC Scottsdale this year compared to 63 in 2025, while 90 trespassed compared to 114 last year.
Of the 99 arrests, with the Coors Light Bird Nest nightly concert series included, 32 were due to underaged drinking, according to Scottsdale PD.
Scottsdale PD public information officer Aaron Bolin said in a press release that “no major issues were reported.”
“Every year, we work with event stakeholders to enhance safety, security and fan compliance,” Bolin said. “We had specific conversations about those directives and the expectations of our personnel during briefings before they began their shifts at the event venues. No major issues were reported, and it was a great week of golf at the WM Phoenix Open and music at the Birds Nest.”
Some of these directives were given a greater emphasis after the 2024 tournament, where rainy weather only shed more light on an overall lack of crowd control.
The WM Phoenix Open DUI task force, which covered the Loop 101 and 202 as well as areas in the West Valley, reported slightly fewer traffic stops (1,091) than last year.
Chris Gotterup won his fourth PGA Tour title at the WM Phoenix Open in a one-hole playoff against two-time event champion Hideki Matsuyama.

Maybe if we concentrate on the fewer calls for police service and how much money we donate to Valley charities--we can distract from the drunkfest we have become!?!
