Phoenix offering hiring bonuses for lifeguards at municipal pools

The city of Phoenix is offering hiring bonuses for new lifeguards working at Phoenix pools this summer.

PHOENIX — The city of Phoenix is offering hiring bonuses for new lifeguards working at Phoenix pools this summer.

As part of its recruitment efforts for the 2026 pool season, the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department will be hiring more than 200 lifeguards.

Incentives for new hires include $1,000 for swim lesson instructors, $750 for lifeguards and $250 for cashiers.

Those interested in applying must complete a lifeguard certification class to be eligible for hire, then submit a hiring application. Applicants can apply online for a class for a limited price of $20.

Applicants must be certified by March 20, with the final certification class on March 7. Interview day will take place on March 21.

Applicants for lifeguard, swim lesson instructor and cashier positions must be at least 15 years old.
